Phonics                       

We follow Soundstart Phonics for Letters and Sounds which is a complete systematic synthetic phonics programme.  This is a structured route that will ensure that pupils will meet the national expectations for early reading and become fluent readers. This approach to SSP saw 82% of current Year 2 cohort achieve the Phonics screening pass mark in Autumn 2021. Soundstart Phonics is being submitted for accreditation by the DfE; we are part of the pilot scheme. Further details of this programme are below.
