Year 4 had the medical mavericks visit them on Thursday 28th March. They did a junior careers workshop in the NHS with them linking it all to our Science, Topic and current PSHE learning. The children took part in these practical activities:

  • used an ultrasound machine to see inside their bodies
  • recorded and printed an EGC from their hearts
  • tried key hole surgery with a training device used by surgeons
  • used a real needle to take fake blood from a fake arm
  • tested their hearing and reflexes
  • took basic medical observations such as; blood pressure, oxygen levels, height and temperature
  • heard their pulse using a Doppler probe
  • experienced different types of eye diseases with the pathology goggles

The children had a fantastic time and really enjoyed all of the activities!
