John Gulson were very excited to welcome back our writer in residence, Richard O’Neill, for the first time this academic year to get started on our school book project.
Richard worked with all of the children in Key Stages one and two, gathering ideas for characters, settings and plots. The school book aims to bring together the schools diverse population by finding something that is common in all of our cultures – food. Each year group has been putting together their ideas for their own year group story with a range of characters and themes all based around bread. From Monkey Pizza, to the Karate-nut, a specialist in martial arts, the stories look like they are going to be fun filled and give the children an excellent opportunity to show off their fantastic creative writing skills.
The children are working hard before Richard’s next visit, where we hope to bring some of the ideas together and start putting together special editorial teams in each year group. Watch this space for more exciting updates!
