Last week, Year 4 welcomed dinosaur specialist Steve Plater from the Dinostar Museum in Hull. Steve, who has a wealth of knowledge about dinosaurs, brought with him a range of amazing artifacts and fossils – including the skull of an Allosaurus!
The children had a great time looking at the artifacts, making rubbings of the fossils and even getting to create their very own fossils. We will now be painting the fossils, to make them look truly authentic.
In the afternoon, the children investigated what impact an asteroid could have had on life on Earth. We explored the dust spread of various sized ‘asteroids’ to see how far reaching the devastation of an asteroid could be to our planet.
This exciting event brings our dinosaur topic to a close, and this week Year 4 will be beginning a new topic looking at the Stone Age to Iron Age era.
