On Tuesday 5th February, three year 6 children – Sannah, Yaqoub and Anes – represented John Gulson at the Rotary Club of Coventry Youth Speaks debating competition.

They opposed the argument from Courthouse Green School that junk food should be banned. Six other schools also competed in separate debates. The children rose to the challenge, arguing fluently and with confidence, and were eventually named as winners of the round.

They will no doubt now start preparing for the final debate, with the support of Miss McPheators and Ms Hussain who have worked extremely hard to coach and prepare them. The final will take place at the Coventry City Council House – we wish them the very best of luck!
