Cadbury World

Today the children in 3JT performed an assembly that was out of this ‘GALAXY’. They were all amazing and had remembered their words really well. Not one child was ‘WISPA’ing during the performance and we could hear every single word. We don’t wish to ‘DAIRY MILK’ it but we thought every one of them were amazing! They were all very supportive to one another and nobody was a ‘malTEASER’. Thank you to all the parents that came to show their support today. We hope you all enjoyed the ‘BOUNTY’ of facts!

Year 6 Get Ready for Big School!

The children in year six enjoyed a visit from the Belgrade Theatre today, who presented their production of ‘Big School’. The production was really interactive and followed the lives of two primary school children facing changes in their lives. The children were encouraged to help the characters through their worries, which they did really well! Year six showed great maturity during the performance and have proved to themselves they are ready for the transition to secondary school.

We would like to pass on our thanks to the Belgrade Theatre for a fantastic performance!

Blots and Blots of Paint!

This week, the children in Nursery have been making marks with paint by using pipettes. They had to learn how to use them, with their teachers helping them to squeeze the handles, dipping them into the paint pots and then releasing the handle to suck up paint. They then had a lot of fun squeezing the handle again, and watching the paint squirt and drip out onto tissue paper, creating wonderful patterns with blots of paint. Using the pipettes is quite tricky, so it also helps the children to improve their fine motor skills!

Leon Baptiste

Just before the holidays something really exciting happened at John Gulson. The children got to meet a gold medal winner from the Common Wealth Games. Leon Baptiste, came to the school for the whole day and spent a lot of time with the children completing different activities and sporting exercises. We started with Year 6 in the morning and worked our way down the school throughout the day. After speaking to the children, I can tell you it was absolute success and they cannot wait for another athlete to visit our school next year. Just before the end of the day Leon gave a speech to the children in the KS2 hall about his life and how he made it to become an athlete. It was very inspiring to listen to and you could have heard a pin drop in the hall as the children were very intent, listening to every word that Leon had to say.

Thank you again Leon for visiting our school, we all enjoyed ourselves very much.
