Research shows us that children who read for pleasure are more likely to achieve economic well being later in life.

You are invited to attend a workshop in school about reading with your child. There will be lots of fantastic tips and ideas to take home to support your children. Local librarians will also be present if you would like to join the local library.

This even will be held in the Key Stage 1 hall. Free tea / coffee / biscuits and a crèche will be available for younger children.

More Mathletics Superstars!

Thumbs up There has been even more Mathletics success at John Gulson recently. Aysha from 5AG has managed to squeeze into the top 100 students in the world!

Not only this, but Mr Geddes’ maths group have also managed to climb the league table to become the 18th highest scoring class in the UK! A tremendous achievement, well done to all the children involved.

First Mathletics Bronze Certificate Winner!

Thumbs up A big ‘WELL DONE!’ to Nasir in 5NR, who is the first pupil at John Gulson to achieve a bronze Mathletics certificate this year! Nasir has been working very hard at home, logging on to Mathletics in the evening, to gain an astounding 1281 points so far!

Bronze certificate = 1000 points in a week

Silver certificate = 4 x bronze certificates

Gold certificate = 5 x silver certificates
