Year 2 Learning About Data Handling

2AG had lots of fun this week learning about data handling. They collected information about their favourite crisps and used tally charts and bar graphs to present and analyse the data.

Keeping Healthy In Year 2

Year 2 have had a fantastic time learning about Healthy lifestyles! On Thursday we invited parents in to join in with some activities. We looked at how to clean our teeth properly and ate a special tablet to check how clean they were. Some of our teeth were not as clean as we thought!

We also got to try lots of different fruit and vegetables, talked about the healthy eating plate and thought about how we could use these new and exciting vegetables in our meals.

Outside we talked about the importance of exercise and challenged ourselves with a fitness circuit.

Good work Year 2!

The children in Year 2 have been learning about writing instructions during their English lessons. That had great fun making gingerbread men to bring life to their writing. They then went on to write in detail and using the correct language, they produced some amazing written instructions.

In Maths, children have been sorting shapes and data using a range of strategies. They have made their own Carroll diagrams and Venn diagrams, working as teams and on their own. They can now classify objects using a chosen set of criteria. Well done Year 2 – a super week of learning.

Year 2 Diversity Week.

This week we have been looking at all the different countries and cultures in our class.

We have made pots from different countries including Afghanistan, Kurdistan and Sudan. We looked at lots of different pots and had a go ourselves. This is what we made:

We looked at traditional clothes from our countries and designed an outfit. We then made Romanian peg dolls

We made flags on our own handprints to show that we are all from different countries. We put them together to show we are all one school family.

We all had a fantastic time and learnt about many different cultures.

Mad Science After School Club

Our new after school scientist have completed their first mission! They raced a balloon rocket, learnt all about thrusts and built their own shuttle Copter which they sent, high up into the sky! Here are a few pictures below;

Natures Detectives


This week in Outdoor Learning Year 2 have been exploring the environment to investigate the different colours in nature. They went on a nature colour hunt and discovered a variety of objects with different colours, materials and texture.

Great Pupil Challenge Winners

Pupils have been working hard at home to complete the Great pupil Challenge. Children are enjoying collecting their certificates and medals each week. Below are some examples of the fantastic challenges they have completed.

Q: Write the ingredients for a disgusting smoothie

  • Disgusting recipe for a disgusting smoothie
  • A  pile of rank elephant poo
  • 1 drop of blood from an ill chicken’s bottom
  • 3 grams of saliva from an outraged giant
  • 1 cup of moldy cheese and bogey paste
  • A bottle of out of date milk
  • a pinch of sugar
  • and a handful of salt.

Firstly, don’t wash your hands and put out your ingredients.
Secondly, grab your stinking elephant poo and mix it with your unpleasant cup of moldy cheese and bogey paste to form a type of liquid.
Thirdly, add your drop of blood from an ill chicken’s bottom to your poo and paste mixture.
After that, stir in your bottle of out of date milk, it should look creamy now with very spoiled smell to go with it.
Next, pour the mixture into a blender, add the rest of your very distasteful ingredients and blend.
When you have finished, add your pinch of sugar and a handful of salt to add a bit of flavor.
mmmmm, yummy there’s your disgusting smoothie.
